تشمل أنشطة المركز مراقبة وتحليل تقلبات درجات الحرارة، دراسة ظواهر التصحر والجفاف، رصد ارتفاع منسوب مياه البحر على الساحل الليبي، وتنظيم المؤتمرات العلمية لتبادل الخبرات مع الخبراء الدوليين والمحليين
